This was the very first nut butter we made in our workshop, and after peanut butter, it is perhaps the most popular nut spread worldwide. This is not only due to its delicious taste but also to the incredible health benefits of almonds. They are high in vitamin E, help stabilize blood sugar levels (thanks to their low carbohydrate and high protein, fat, and fiber content), and are packed with antioxidants. It’s pure luck that they also taste amazing, right?
We make our almond cream from lightly roasted almonds, which enhances its rich, intense flavor. Along with peanut butter, almond butter pairs exceptionally well with bread and fruit—think of it as an alternative to the classic peanut butter & jelly sandwich. If you prefer something sweet for breakfast but want to avoid sugar and blood sugar spikes, we highly recommend toasted whole grain rye bread spread with natural almond butter and topped with fruit slices (such as apple, pear, raspberries, or banana).
Almond cream is incredibly versatile: it can replace fat (and even some flour) in baked goods, make smoothies creamier, and add a more filling texture to oatmeal.
